Footage showing what is left of a church destroyed by Russian invaders in the Donetsk Oblast town of Maryinka – a single column decorated with religious imagery – swept through social media in Ukraine on April 25.

Almost nothing remains of the holy place. Ironic, as it was a Russian Orthodox Church before its destruction.

All that remains is a single column with the faces of saints standing alone among a pile of broken bricks.

“Invincible church in Maryinka,” the creator of the video said.

“Everything has been destroyed, but the icons and God are always with us.”
