Iran allows top Russian billionaire's yacht to pass through Strait of Hormus

A superyacht linked to Russian billionaire Alexey Mordashov was granted passage through the Strait of Hormuz, effectively closed since the start of the U.S.-Israeli military operation against Iran, the Moscow Times wrote on April 26.
The 142-meter superyacht, Nord, left Dubai on April 24 and set course for Oman, crossing the strait on the night of April 25, according to maritime traffic data from Vesselfinder and Marinetraffic.
The yacht was accompanied by two U.S.-sanctioned tankers, five cargo ships (including one Iranian vessel), and a passenger ferry from Oman, based on information from NBC.
Mordashov tops the list of Russia’s richest people, with a fortune estimated at $37 billion, according to Forbes.
The Russian billionaire is under the United States, the United Kingdom, and the European Union. sanctions.
Iran’s ambassador to Moscow announced a day earlier that Tehran had made an exception for Russian ships, granting them passage through the Strait of Hormuz without paying duties.
On April 21, U.S. President Donald Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire with Iran at Pakistan’s request, until Tehran’s representatives submit their proposal for a peace settlement. At the same time, he ordered the U.S. military to continue the blockade of Iranian ports and to “remain ready to act”.
Trump believes that lifting the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports will make it impossible to reach an agreement with Tehran.
Iran rejected the U.S. ceasefire and declared its readiness to break the blockade by force. Tehran believes that extending the ceasefire could allow the U.S. to launch a new attack on Iran.
