Israel to transfer 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to Ukraine
Israel is to send 500,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to Ukraine under the COVAX initiative, the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine told Ukrinform news agency on Dec. 16.
Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky said Israel was delighted to help Ukraine in its fight against COVID-19, Ukrinform reported.
“In ten days’ time we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between our countries,” Brodsky said. “This gesture is a symbol of the friendly relations between Israel and Ukraine.”
Ukraine’s Health Minister Viktor Liashko said on Dec. 13 that Ukraine was on track with its vaccination program. Over 40 percent of the population have already been vaccinated with at least one dose, he said.
