Vladimir Putin’s press secretary Dmitriy Peskov has responded to a suggestion that Ukraine might attack the bridge that Russian built from its mainland to occupied Crimea, saying the bridge was “well-defended and protected.”

Secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov said in earlier comments to NV that Ukraine might strike the bridge if an opportunity arises.

According to Peskov, “the bridge and other strategic objects are well-defended and protected by the security services (of Russia).”

He described Danilov’s words as “an announcement of a possible act of terror,” something to be “investigated and punished.”

Talking to NV Radio, Danilov said that Ukraine would strike the bridge, if possible.

“If there is an opportunity to do it, we certainly will,” said Danilov.

The Crimean Bridge connects the Russian-occupied Ukrainian peninsula with mainland Russia across the Kerch Strait, and is used to reinforce and supply the Russian troops that are invading mainland Ukraine in the south.
