Kyiv City Council has published a draft decision on its website to terminate the lease agreement for the land plot on which the Russian embassy in Ukraine is located.
The draft decision pertains to a 0.3984-hectare land plot located at 27 Povitroflotskyi Avenue in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv. The lease agreement, numbered 72-5-00076, was signed between the Kyiv City Council and the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ukraine on Oct. 5, 1999.
The draft decision is currently being reviewed by a commission.
The press service of the Servant of the People party announced that, at the party’s behest, the Kyiv City Council may seize the land plot from the Russian embassy.
MP Liliya Pashynna explained that the faction in the Kyiv City Council initiated the termination of the lease agreement for the land plot provided to the Russian embassy and is proposing to nationalize the embassy premises.
Pashynna reiterated that the decision was made in light of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine’s statement on ending diplomatic relations with Russia and Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
