Mobile air defense units capable of downing missiles and intercepting Shahed suicide drones have been created in Kyiv, the head of Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Pavliuk, stated on Telegram on Feb. 9.
"The prepared crews are driving off-road vehicles, armed with large-caliber machine guns and equipped with thermal imaging sights and other target detection and laser targeting devices," Pavliuk revealed.
The firing positions chosen for the crews have been laid out that will allow the crews to arrive in position in the shortest possible time, he added.
The military head said the number of these new units is constantly expanding. Steps are also being taken to improve their technical equipment. These units are also intended to be capable of destroying cruise missiles and other air targets, as well.
