The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine has replaced the red-green flag of Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko with the white-red-white one of the Belarusian opposition, on the border with Belarus, the Belarusian opposition website Reform.by reported on Oct. 23.
Belarusian television shared the “outraged” reactions of the Lukashenko regime to the move.
"About two months ago, along with the state flag of Ukraine, white-red-white flag was also hung at the checkpoint,” a spokesperson for the Belarusian Brest border guard detachment, Sergey Dmitriev, complained.
“It should be noted, white-red-white flags are also placed at the check-points of the Brest border guard detachment.”
Belarusian media blurred the opposition white-red-white flag in their video in an apparent at-tempt at censorship.
The white-red-white flag is a historic symbol of Belarus. It was the state flag of Belarus from 1991 until the 1995 referendum, following which it was replaced.
