Russian occupation “authorities” are planning to hold sham trials of Ukrainian Mariupol defenders on Aug. 24 – Ukrainian Independence Day – Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence said in a Telegram post on Aug. 19.

According to the report, the “trial” is to be held at Mariupol’s Philharmonic Hall. Cages for the accused are being erected at the venue.

Russian propaganda specialists are coaching a number of “witnesses,” hoping to add an air of legitimacy to the process.

“One possible scenario includes Moscow hitting the site with a missile strike,” Ukrainian intelligence speculated.

“Should that happen, the Kremlin is sure to attempt to blame Ukraine for the blatant war crime.”
