A shell fired by Russian invasion forces hit the courtyard of a residential building in the center of Kharkiv, the city’s mayor, Ihor Terehov, reported on Telegramon Aug 11.

“Here are the results of the shell landing in the courtyard of a residential building in the center of Kharkiv,” Terehov wrote in his message.

“Thank God that everyone is alive and no one is injured.”

“Fragments of metal were recovered,” he said on his Facebook page. “It was probably an S-300 missile.”

S-300 missiles are surface-to-air missiles used by air defense systems. In Ukraine, the Russians have been adapting them to attack ground targets.

Russian invasion forces are also continuing to inflict massive artillery strikes on Kharkiv Oblast.

According to the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Synyehubov, over the past 24 hours the enemy has continued shelling settlements in Kharkivskiy, Chuguevsky and Izyum districts.

“For the second day in a row, the invaders are continuously shelling Tsirkuny,” he said. “Twelve attacks on the village were recorded, and 10 fires broke out yesterday. Private houses, outbuildings, shops, cafes, and garages were destroyed. A 76-year-old woman was injured, her injuries are of moderate severity."

Synyehubovadded that grass and woodland belts were burning due to shelling in the Chuguevsky District.

Fighting continues on the front line.

Russian invasion forces attack Kharkiv almost every day with artillery and rocket strikes. On Aug 8, the invaders hit a densely populated district of the city of Kharkiv. One civilian was killed and another was injured.

The historical residential district of Pavlovo Pole in Kharkiv was also shelled by Russian forces.
