Mayor of Pokrov lashes out at Russia after missile strike hits town

The mayor of Pokrov, a Dnipropetrovsk Oblast town near Nikopol, has lashed out a Russia after an enemy missile hit a residential area of his town on the morning of July 5.

The mayor, Oleksander Shapoval, shared his feelings on Facebook following the Russian missile strike, which destroyed several houses. 

“There it is, the so-called ‘fraternal people,” said Shapoval. “Fighting with ordinary people and with children. Six people lived in the now completely destroyed house, three of them were small children. Thank God, no one was hurt."

The State Emergency Service and the police are currently at the scene.

Russia attacked Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with a barrage of seven missiles early on July 5. 

Six missiles were shot down by Ukrainian air defense over Sinelnikovsky District and the Dnipro. The missile that evaded defenses hit Pokrov.
