Heavy fighting is taking place in Donetsk Oblast in the Bakhmut and Avdiyivka sectors, although the most difficult situation is in the area of Vuhledar, spokesperson for the Eastern Grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevatyi, said on Ukrainian TV on Nov. 4.
According to him, the eastern front remains the epicenter of the war. The Russian invasion forces are conducting aggressive assault actions, striking with all types of artillery, multiple rocket launchers, tanks, and mortars. Ukraine’s Armed Forces are responding with artillery and aviation strikes.
Cherevatyi also stated that the fighting has been going on for several days near the settlement of Pavlivka, in the area of Vuhledar.
"The situation is complicated,” he added.
“Positional battles continue, this is ‘mobile’ warfare. Our units are holding the line there and are not allowing the enemy to pass, as well as along the entire front line. But the hottest and most intense hostilities are going on there.”
Earlier, Donetsk governor Pavlo Kyrylenko reported that the Bakhmut axis is one of the most tense at the front. According to him, Russian troops cannot break through the Ukrainian defense there, and are choosing to to destroy the surrounding settlements instead.
Earlier, Ukraine’s General Staff reported that the Russian military is attempting to encircle the strategic town of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast from the south and northeast, but Ukrainian forces are successfully repelling the Russian attacks.
