Missile fragment found in eastern Poland, police say no threat to residents

Police in Poland said a fragment of a missile was found on Apr. 10 in the village of Jarosławiec in the Lublin region, Polsat News reported on Apr. 11.
The fragment was found in a garden. According to the Military Gendarmerie, the missile was most likely used to repel a Russian drone attack on Sept. 10, 2025.
The site where the missile was found has been cordoned off. There is no threat to life or health, police said.
Polsat News reported that information about the discovery of the debris was received after 1 p.m. on April 10. The Military Counterintelligence Service, the Internal Security Agency and military police were dispatched to the scene.
On the night of Sept. 10, 2025, 21 Russian drones entered Polish airspace, flying nearly 300 kilometers into the country. Preliminary reports indicate that about four UAVs were shot down by NATO air defense forces, including in Lublin Voivodeship, while most of the drones were reportedly decoy Gerbera UAVs.
After the attack, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced Operation Eastern Guard to strengthen air defenses on the alliance’s eastern flank. Allies deployed additional equipment and troops in Poland.
