A 42-year-old Moscow man has attempted to steal the mummified corpse of Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin from the mausoleum in the center of the Russian capital, media reported on Feb. 6.
On arriving on Red Square, the would-be body snatcher tried to break down the building's door, but his ingenious plan suddenly flopped due to the appearance of security forces.
After the arrest, it turned out that the tomb raider was intoxicated.
According to the Russian, he had been drinking with a casual acquaintance on Tverskaya Street in central Moscow, and he does not recall the subsequent developments.
He also could not explain why he wanted the mummified remains of the former Soviet leader.
