Russia may be preparing to send a fresh wave of Iranian-made Shahed suicide drones against Ukraine, the head of Ukraine’s United Coordination Press Center for Armed Forces Group South, Natalia Humeniuk, said on national television on Feb. 2.
This conclusion was drawn from reports detailing the activity of Russian military cargo aviation, she noted, though added that visual confirmation of these drones in Ukrainian territory had not been established due to unfavourable weather conditions in the south of the country.
"We saw activity of transport aviation supplying a new batch (of drones),” she said.
“So, it's highly likely they are setting up for new waves of attacks.”
The last Russian drone attack was on Jan. 26. All 26 Shahed drones launched by Russia at the time were downed by Ukrainian air defense.
