New US ambassador to Russia arrives in Moscow

The newly-appointed U.S. Ambassador to Russia, Lynne Tracy, has arrived in Moscow, Russia, the U.S. Embassy in Moscow reported on the Telegram messenger on Jan. 25.

The U.S. Senate greenlighted her candidacy in late December 2022.

Tracy became the first woman to hold the post of U.S. ambassador to Russia.

Previously, she served as the U.S. envoy to Armenia, as well as Deputy U.S. Ambassador to Moscow in 2014-2017.

The diplomat also worked in the U.S. embassies in Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Turkmenistan.

Her predecessor, John Sullivan, who had served as the U.S. envoy to Russia for almost three years, completed his work in September 2022 and left Moscow.
