Invading Russian forces are not advancing in the south of Ukraine and are unable to do so, Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian military’s Operational Command South said at a briefing on Sept. 28.
“They’re holding the lines they have been setting up for a long time, including using reinforced concrete structures,” she said.
“And they’re not advancing anywhere. They tried to advance a tank platoon yesterday. The first tank blew up on an anti-tank mine. The other two turned back to their positions.”
OC South reported on Sept. 12 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had liberated 13 settlements in the southern area since the beginning of counter-offensive operations. The area of liberated territories is more than 500 square kilometers.
Humeniuk said in mid-September that Ukraine had established fire control over almost the entire territory of Kherson Oblast.
