A 48-year-old woman was injured during the shelling of the Nikopol district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast by the Russian invaders on New Year’s Eve, Valentyn Reznichenko, head of the Oblast Military Administration (OVA), wrote on Telegram on Jan. 1.
According to him, two communities — Chervonohryhorivska and Nikopolska — were targeted.
“Enemy Grads (multiple rocket launchers) and heavy artillery deliberately hit the residential quarters precisely during the festive hours,” head of the OVA said.
According to him, at least 20 shells landed in Nikopol. One of them caused a fire in anine-story building. A 48-year-old woman received shrapnel and burn injuries to her eyes — she was taken to the hospital. The woman was discharged in the morning.
Up to ten high-rise buildings and four private houses were damaged in the city. A hospital, a bank, two pharmacies, a hotel, shops and a power line were hit.
There were no casualties in the Chervonohryhorivska community.
Also, according to Reznichenko, the oblast was given a “New Year’s gift” from the Eastern Air Command – Ukrainian air defenses destroyed a kamikaze drone that was headed to the oblast.
