Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov is the only foreign leader expected to visit Moscow on May 9 to mark victory over Nazi Germany in 1945, Russia’s Vedomosti reported on April 23.

Japarov will not only attend ceremonial events, but also expected to hold talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

No foreign leader visited Moscow to celebrate Victory Day in 2022. The Kremlin claimed that no one had been invited to the event.

Most Russian regions are refusing to hold military parades this year so as not to “provoke” Ukrainians.

The cancelations are likely due to heavy losses in the Russian army, believes U.K. intelligence.
