Overnight on June 26, the Russian military conducted a new round of shelling against the city of Kharkiv in north-eastern Ukraine.

The shelling was focused on the Nemyshlansky and Holodnohirsky districts of the city, leading to severe damage to a medical facility, as well as to residential apartment blocks, cars, and garages, where multiple fires broke out.

Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Synehubov, explained that the Russian invaders were targeting the city’s civil infrastructure. According to him, shelling came mostly from multiple launch rocket systems that were attempting to cause as much damage in residential areas and civil infrastructure locations as possible.

“This is a sign of a new wave of terror against the civil population,” emphasized Synehubov.

The medical facility, in Kharkiv’s 602nd district, suffered damage to its roof, technical facilities, and an operating room. Russian shells did most of the damage to the upper part of the building, destroying several walls. However, neither staff nor patients suffered any injuries.

A residential apartment was also set on fire, and a car was destroyed by an explosion nearby. Seven more cars were damaged.

At a different location in Kharkiv, Russians destroyed two garages and four cars. Many Ukrainian cities have vast industrial zones, filled with multiple garages, that serve as vast parking lots and maintenance facilities.
