On Feb. 18-21, 2014, dozens of people, known as the Heavenly Hundred, were killed by snipers during violent clashes in the center of Kyiv. Many protesters sustained injuries and wounds of varying severity.

On Feb. 20, Ukraine marks the Day of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes. Nine years ago, this day became a turning point that determined the outcome of the Revolution of Dignity and caused fugitive ex-president Viktor Yanukovych to flee to Russia.
