Police station in Kherson was so heavily mined it had to be blown up

Retreating Russian troops rigged Kherson regional police office with so many explosive devices, it had to be blown up, Ukrainian police chief Ihor Klymenko said in a Facebook post on Nov. 16.
According to Klymenko, it was virtually impossible to safely locate and defuse all the IEDs the Russians left in the building.
“This used to be one of the buildings of Kherson regional police department,” said Klymenko.
“Today it had to become a pile of rubble. Russian occupiers concealed explosives inside. It was impossible to avoid having to blow the building up. Thanks to the wit and skills of our sappers no one was hurt – that’s the important part. Walls can be rebuilt.”
He added that police sappers have already examined 400 hectares of land in liberated areas of Kherson Oblast, uncovering more than 4,000 explosive devices.
The police chief urged civilians to not be hasty in returning to their homes in recently-liberated areas of Ukraine.
