A Polish citizen who was a platoon commander of the International Legion has been killed in action while fighting Russian invasion forces in Ukraine, Minister of the Chancellery of the Council of Ministers of Poland Michał Dworczyk reported on Twitter on March 24.
"Unfortunately, this is not the best time," Dworczyk wrote.
“Another Ukrainian soldier, a Polish citizen, was killed today, and two wounded a few days ago are still in a serious condition.”
"Today Michał, a company commander of the International Legion, was killed in action," Lachowski wrote on Twitter.
“It was an honor to have known him. He has been fighting against the Russian invasion since April last year. He fought for the freedom of Ukraine and the security of Poland — he spoke about it many times.”
Lachowski said that Michał's contract was about to expire in a month, and he wanted to return to Poland to serve in the Polish army again.
"He could have returned earlier, but he wanted to fulfill his duty. He didn't get the chance to," Lachowski wrote.
