Poll reveals almost 40% of Ukrainians have relatives or acquaintances injured or killed in war

Almost 40% of Ukrainians have relatives or acquaintances who were injured or killed in the war, according to the results of a poll conducted by the think tank Razumkov Centre from Feb. 22 to March 1, 2023.
A total of 37% of respondents answered “yes” to the question “Do you have relatives or close acquaintances (military or civilian) who died or were injured as a result of military operations or shelling after Feb. 24, 2022?”
Another 28% of respondents have close relatives or family members who left the country after Feb. 24, 2022 and who were still there at the time of the survey.
Some 20% have close relatives or family members who went abroad after Feb. 24, 2022 but who had already returned to Ukraine at the time of the survey (meanwhile, 8% have both relatives who are still abroad and relatives who have already returned).
Among those interviewed who have close relatives or family members who live or who have lived abroad, the most frequently named countries of residence were Poland (47%), Germany (18.5%) and the Czech Republic (9%).
