Prime Minister of Ireland Micheál Martin has traveled to Kyiv on an official visit, The Irish Times reported on July 6.

According to Martin, the purpose of his trip is to support Ukraine in the face of the "immoral and unprovoked terrorist war" unleashed by the Russian Federation.

He was scheduled to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv.

Martin visited the Kyiv Oblast town of Irpin near the capital to personally see the destruction of civilian infrastructure caused by the Russian bombing. He is also to discuss with the Ukrainian authorities how Ireland and the EU can support the country's current and future needs.

“The spirit and determination of the Ukrainian people have inspired us all, and Ireland will provide every support on Ukraine’s path to full EU membership and will continue to welcome and support civilians fleeing this war,” Martin said on his arrival in the Ukrainian capital.
