Reconnaissance has spotted the movement of military convoys near the border with Chernihiv Oblast, and Russian forces may be preparing possible provocations, the Ukrainian military’s North Operational Command said in a post on Facebook on Feb. 23.
"The invaders are preparing possible provocations for the anniversary of the full-scale offensive, most likely with the aim of accusing Ukrainian defenders of violating territorial integrity," the statement said.
The command noted that this is evidenced by intelligence data, which recorded the movement of columns of military equipment near the border with Chernihiv Oblast without insignia and manpower wearing a pixel-camouflage uniform like those used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The command stated that the local Sivershchyna Defense Forces are keeping the situation under control and, unlike the enemy, have never resorted to provocations and do not intend to do so.
"Each soldier adheres to the generally accepted rules of warfare, not encroaching on foreign territories, but exclusively defending his native land from a brazen and insidious enemy," the statement reads.
