Putin demands that Ukraine disarm and pivot away from NATO
Russia demands Ukraine “demilitarizes” and abandons its NATO aspirations, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a press briefing on Feb. 22.
"Russia favors demilitarizing modern Ukraine,” Putin said.
He added that Russia categorically opposes Ukraine joining NATO.
Previously, the Russian puppet leaders in the occupied territories of Ukraine’s Donbas have declared a "general mobilization” and have begun to forcibly conscript all Ukrainian males aged 18-55 in the occupied territories.
After months of troop buildup around Ukraine, Russia has escalated the tense situation around Ukraine further by recognizing its puppet statelets in the Donbas as independent, effectively putting an end to the Minsk peace process.
