The Russian invaders are completing the creation of an offensive group in the eastern operational zone, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Facebook on April 18, referring to Ukraine’s Donbas region.

On the Donetsk and Tavrian axes, the enemy is restoring their combat capability and replenishing supplies. It is trying to improve the tactical position of its units, and intensify hostilities, ahead of a fresh push against Ukraine’s Joint Forces Operation zone.

Russian forces have continue shelling of the settlements of Siversk and Pokrovske.

The main efforts of the Russian army are currently concentrated near the settlements of Lyman, Kreminna, Popasna and Rubizhne, in an attempt to establish full control over the strategic Donbas port city of Mariupol. The invaders have carried out offensive operations on the Severodonetsk, Popasna and Zaporizhzhia axes.

The General Staff also reports that the Russians have tried unsuccessfully to gain a foothold near the settlements of Kreminna and Rubizhne, while carrying out assault operations in the areas of the settlements of Novotoshkivske, Popasna, Avdiyivka and Maryinka, but also without success.
