Ukraine’s artillerymen are read “to turn night into day” using new weapons and ammunition from the latest U.S. military aid package, and expel Russian invasion force from Ukraine, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov wrote on Twitter on Aug. 2.

Reznikov thanked the United States for providing Ukraine with a new security assistance package – the 17th one, worth U.S. $550 million.

He wrote on Twitter that this latest U.S. military aid package was another investment in the security of NATO's eastern flank and support for democracy in the European Union.

“Our gunners are ready to turn night into day to expel the Russian invaders from Ukraine!” Reznikov wrote.

“Thank you to U.S. President Joe Biden and U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin for your leadership, and (thank you) to the entire American people,” Reznikov said.

U.S. President Joe Biden approved the new $550 million military aid package for Ukraine on Aug. 1. The package includes ammunition for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems and 155-mm artillery systems.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Russia, the United States has allocated more than $8 billion in military aid to Ukraine.
