Russian forces are totally obliterating villages on the border of Luhansk Oblast to finally reach their goal and take the whole region under control, Luhansk governor Serhiy Hayday said in a Telegram post on July 8.

In particular, Bilohorivka and Zolotarivka are under relentless barrage from Russian barreled and rocket artillery, according to Hayday.

“They won't stop even at killing civilians who remain there,” said Hayday.

“Every building that they think could be any kind of a cover is under attack. In their advance, they disregard both their own losses and civilian deaths.”

The official added that Russia uses a similar approach in nearby Donetsk Oblast.

Ukrainian troops withdrew from Lysychansk – the last major city in Luhansk Oblast to fall into Russian hands – on July 3, after several weeks of heavy fighting.

Four months of Russian offensive in Donbas saw invading forces advance mere 30 kilometers.
