Russian authorities have banned more than 1 million citizens from leaving the country due to mobilization, Russian news outlet Astra project reported in a Telegram post on Oct. 19.

Astra cites the database of the Border Service of the FSB – Russia’s security service – as its source, saying that 1,025,703 citizens have been from leaving the country.

Russian authorities did not provide an official statement on the matter.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin announced a “partial” mobilization on Sept. 21, planning to call up 300,000 people into service, in order to bolster Moscow’s deteriorating position on the battlefield in Ukraine. Some Russian media alleged the draft could actually involve as many as 1 million men.
