Invading Russian forces have begun to plant mines around the occupied city of Mariupol, Mariupol mayoral advisor Petro Andriushchenko said in a Telegram messenger post on Nov. 9.

“The invaders are strengthening the suburbs not only by erecting ‘dragon’s teeth,’” he said, referring to triangular anti-tank barriers used by the Russian forces.

“The invaders have begun to plant mines on dirt roads and fields along the Ahrobaza-Berdyanske-Shevchenko-Pryazovske line.”

Andriushchenko added that these actions indicate an accelerated and intensified strengthening of the defense of the Russian occupation in the city.

Earlier on Nov. 7, Andriushchenko said the Russian military had begun to construct a defense line around Mariupol.

According to the official, concrete barriers have been partially erected near the highway between Mariupol and Nikolske.
