Invading Russian forces are trying to replenish their losses with the prisoners recruited by the Wagner mercenary company, Ukraine’s General Staff said in a Facebook update on Feb. 10.

“In order to replenish losses, the Russian invaders brought mercenaries from the so-called ‘Wagner’ (private military company), from among recruited prisoners, to the village of Myrne in Zaporizhzhya Oblast,” reads the report.

On Feb. 9, Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin announced his company had stopped recruiting prisoners to fight in Ukraine.
