Russian troops aren’t abandoning their attempts to capture the city of Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast, spokesperson for the Ukrainian military’s Operational Command East, Serhiy Cherevatyi, announced on national television on Dec. 4.
At the same time, the invading forces have changed their tactics and are now trying to penetrate the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in small groups.
"Courage, concentration and motivation of our units has made them at least partially change their tactics,” he said.
“In particular, on the Bakhmut axis, we notice that Wagner PMC is creating small assault groups that try to act more dispersed to reach our positions as quickly as possible and try to penetrate the trenches.”
Cherevatyi noted that Ukrainian military surveillance systems allows Ukrainian defenders to track the enemy and predict these attacks.
“In fact, we see the battlefield online,” he explained.
