Moscow isn’t limiting itself at seizing Donbas, but intends to conquer all of southern Ukraine, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Russian propaganda agency RIA Novosti on July 20.

Despite its stalled offensives Donbas and elsewhere, the Kremlin has yet to limit the scope of its territorial ambitions in Ukraine.

According to Lavrov, the supply of long-range Western weapons to Ukraine has “altered geographical objectives,” and Russia now aims to claim not only Donbas, but also Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts, along with “a number of other territories.”

Lavrov threatened to expand Russia’s goals even further if Ukraine continues to receive support from the West.

After five months of war, Russia controls only the Donbas, Crimea, and Kherson Oblast, while military reports indicate continued degradation of Russian combat capability and logistics.
