The Ukrainian counteroffensive in Kherson Oblast has allegedly "failed with a bang,” while Ukrainians suffered heavy losses, Russia’s Defense Ministry lied in a statement on Aug. 29.

The Ukrainian military’s Operational Command South has responded to this false claim with mockery.

"They banged so loud that they probably mistook their forces cracking for ours,” Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for OC South, said on Ukrainian TV on Aug. 31.

“Therefore, they did not hear the true state of affairs. Time and our endurance will tell (who failed).”

She also thanked everyone who “lets the Armed Forces of Ukraine to do their work in silence and refrains from comments or predictions of how Ukrainian operation in the south is going. Who does not comment and does not make predictions."

Ukraine’s Armed Forces went on the offensive in Kherson Oblast on Aug. 29, forcing a Donetsk puppet militia, and a Russian paratrooper unit, to retreat.

OC South added that the AFU have launched offensive actions on a number of axes towards southern Ukraine, and emphasized the need for citizens to keep silent about Ukrainian troop movements on social media.
