Russia has failed to gain control of Ukrainian airspace, reports the UK’s Ministry of Defense on March 19, in a tweet.

The British Ministry says that Russian troops are continuing to mostly rely on weapons launched from the relative safety of Russian airspace to strike targets within Ukraine.

Gaining control of airspace was one of Russia's principal objectives for the first days of the war, and their continued failure to do so has considerably slowed their operational progress, the MoD said, pointing out that Ukraine’s Air Forces and Air Defense Forces are continuing to protect Ukrainian skies.

On March 18, Ukraine’s Air Force was reported to have hit 10 aerial targets, and the Air Defense Forces hit an additional two.
