Russia has now 105 operational BTGs (battalion tactical groups) in Ukraine, a senior U.S. Department of Defense official said at a briefing on May 13.
He added that their number was growing in the Donbas.
Asked about the morale and exhaustion level of the Ukrainian forces, the official stressed that "there's a very strong will to fight there."
"Again, we don't have perfect visibility into every unit, but we're not seeing the kinds of unit cohesion and morale problems, we're not seeing anecdotal evidence of unit cohesion and morale problems in the Ukrainian Armed Forces," he said.
