Russia has made no significant progress in its war campaign against Ukraine, UK defense ministry believes
Russia has made limited progress in capturing key Ukrainian cities, the UK’s Ministry of Defense said in its daily Defense Intelligence war update on March 20.
“Instead, Russia has increased its indiscriminate shelling of urban areas, resulting in widespread destruction and large numbers of civilian casualties,” the MoD tweeted.
As a relative lull in the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues, Russia is inching towards encircling a number of cities in eastern Ukraine, the ministry said.
According to the assessment, Russia is likely to continue to use heavy firepower to “support assaults on urban areas,” in a bid to limit its already “considerable losses.”
