Russian troops are regrouping and concentrating their forces in preparation for a major offensive in eastern Ukraine, Ukraine’s General Staff said in a Facebook post on April 5.

According to the message, Moscow aims to establish control over the entire area of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

Russia’s army command is also trying to improve the condition of their forces in the south of Ukraine.

After retreating in defeat from the northern parts of Ukraine, Russian regiments are redeploying to other fronts, according to the General Staff.

Convoys of Russian military equipment in Belarus are moving towards railway stations, where they are being loaded onto trains. A significant number of Russian war planes and helicopters have been redeployed to Russia from Belarus, the General Staff said.

Several Russian armies, as well as components of their Baltic and Northern fleets are involved in the planned offensive, which aims to encircle the troops of the Ukrainian Joint Forces Operation in the Donbas.

Enemy forces are replenishing their food, fuel, and ammunition supplies, Ukraine’s General Staff said.
