Russian forces in southern Ukraine have shifted towards defending their positions, looking to prevent a Ukrainian counteroffensive there, Ukraine’s General Staff said in a Facebook post on June 20.

Invading Russian troops did not engage in active fighting in southern Ukraine in the last 24 hours.

Russian artillery fire targeted areas near Chervonyi Yar, Murakhivka, Kalynivka, Zelenyi Hai, Kvitneve, Polyana, Chervona Dolyna, Shyroke, Blahodatne, Zorya, and Lupareve.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia is amassing troops for potential operations near Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya.
