51 people fell victim to a Russian strike on a civilian convoy on the outskirts of the city of Zaporizhzhia on Sept. 30, regional governor Oleksandr Starukh reported on Telegram.
23 civilians were killed, and another 28 wounded.
The convoy was mostly composed of people waiting to enter the occupied territories, to pick up their relatives and deliver much-needed humanitarian aid.
Early reports indicate that the Russian military fired 16 rockets from an S-300 air defense system, deputy presidential chief-of-staff Kyrylo Tymoshenko said on Telegram.
Four other rocket attacks struck the territory of an auto market.
Oct. 1 has been declared a day of mourning in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.
