Russia launches attacks from occupied Berdyansk, Melitopol, Ukrainian air forces say

Recent Russian attacks on the city of Zaporizhzhya on Oct. 9 were launched from the temporarily occupied towns of Berdyansk and Melitopol, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Telegram.

Around midnight, the Ukrainian Air Force spotted six Tu-22M3 bombers operating from Russia’s Ryazan airfield, while seven Su-35 fighters were operating from the Marinovka airfield in Russia’s Rostov Oblast.

In total, the Russian aircraft launched four Kh-22 cruise missiles and two Kh-59 guided air missiles.

The invaders also used an S-300 air defense system, having launched about 16 missiles at Zaporizhzhya’s civil infrastructure and residential areas.

In the early hours of Oct. 9, Russia launched two missile attacks on the city of Zaporizhzhya. According to preliminary data, the invaders fired at least 12 rockets into the city, mainly at high-rise buildings and private houses.

At least 12 people were killed and 49 were hospitalized, including six children, as a result of the missile strikes.

Over the past few days, the enemy has been regularly attacking Zaporizhzhya, including residential buildings and civilian infrastructure. Eighteen people were killed as a result of an attack on Oct. 6.

Thirty-one people were killed in an attack on a convoy of civilian cars on Sept. 30.
