Russian troops are attempting to regain lost positions in the south of Ukraine by transferring reserves to areas threatened by a successful offensive by the Ukrainian army, Ukraine's General Staff said in a Facebook post on May 29.

In the South Buh area, after suffering losses as a result of offensive actions by Ukrainian units, the enemy took up defenses in unfavorable positions near the village of Kostromka.

The Russian invaders also shelled civilian infrastructure in the areas of the settlements of Lymany, Stepova Dolyna, Luch, Partyzany, Chervoniy Yar, Trudoliubivka, and others.

"In order to make up for the losses, the enemy is reinforcing the group with obsolete weapons and military equipment, in particular, T-62 tanks and BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicles," the report says.

The General Staff added that the enemy had not carried out an active offensive operations in the Kurakhove, Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhya areas.

Instead, the enemy has been firing on civilian infrastructure along the front line.

The situation in the Bessarabia area has not changed significantly, the General Staff said.

Russia's war against Ukraine goes into its fourth month.
