Russia launches two strikes on Vovchansk, injuring six civilians

Russian invasion forces have carried out two missile strikes against the town of Vovchansk in Kharkiv Oblast in the east of Ukraine, injuring six civilians, regional governor Oleh Synehubov wrote on Telegram on Feb. 16.

The Russians launched an attack at about 10:30 a.m., the missiles thought to have been launched from a warplane. A 30-year-old worker of Kharkiv energy infrastructure was wounded. He was taken to hospital with a blast injury. An industrial facility and a house were also damaged.

Updated at 1:10 p.m.: The number of injured people was raised to six. Five more men aged from 35 to 65 were also injured while repairing a communications line. They were provided with medical help, but no one needed to be hospitalized, Synehubov said.

Russian forces also launched another attack on Kupyansk overnight. A hangar, garages, three cars and two buses were burnt out. The invaders have massed military vehicles in the area, and a new Russian offensive is possible in February, though no combat units equipped for assault have been spotted yet.

The Russian invaders carried out another mass missile attack across Ukraine in the early hours of Feb. 16. Ukrainian air defense managed to down 16 out of 36 missiles launched by the enemy.
