Russia plans to hold elections in the occupied territories of Ukraine in September 2023, Russian propaganda publication Vedomosti reported on Dec. 25.

A source allegedly told the publication that the Kremlin is ready to amend Russia’s electoral legislation in order to enable these so-called elections.

“These terms can be shortened in case of repeated or early elections,” the source said.

Another publication stated that martial law could be amended to hold these “elections,” though according to another source, “so far such amendments are not being developed.”
