Besides shelling numerous towns and settlements in Donetsk Oblast, Russian troops in the region are focusing on assaulting the city of Bakhmut and the nearby Vuhlehirsk thermal power plant, Ukraine’s General Staff said in a Facebook post on July 20.

The offensive towards Bakhmut is still in preliminary stages – the invaders are regrouping and setting conditions for an assault, according to the General Staff.

Russia shelled and launched air strikes on Bakhmut itself and at least 14 other settlements in the area.

Berestove, Vershyna, and Novoluhanske, near the Donetsk-Luhansk oblasts boundary, are still contested, according to the message.
