Russia relentlessly attacking eastern city of Kharkiv and surrounding oblast

Russia launched a barrage of S-300 missiles on Kharkiv in the morning on Aug. 6, after targeting a blood transfusion center in the oblast the night before, local authorities have said in a report on the aftermath of the attacks.
The missiles for the S-300 air defense system are primarily designed to attack targets in the air, but they can be launched in a ground-attack, ballistic missile mode. However, in this mode of use, they are much less accurate.
Earlier, the Russian military dropped a gliding bomb on the blood transfusion center in Kupyansk District, Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenaskyy said in a post on Telegram late on Aug. 5.
Two people were killed and another four were injured by the strike, regional governor Oleh Synehubov reported later on his channel on Telegram.
A civilian man aged 55 suffered shrapnel wounds in the attack, and houses and utility buildings were also damaged in the district, the governor added.
Meanwhile, no casualties have been reported after a Russian attack on the city of Kharkiv's Holodnogirskyi District. The consequences of the attack are still being clarified, Synehubov wrote in his recent post on Telegram.
Russia regularly attacks civilian buildings, including schools, hospitals and apartment buildings in Kharkiv and other oblasts bordering Russia or Russia-occupied parts of Ukraine.
It has also attacked civilian infrastructure far from the frontline with cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and attack drones on many occasions since launching its full-scale invasion and war in Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022.
