Russia’s invasion uproots nearly 15 million Ukrainians so far
Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, 11 to 12 million Ukrainians have become internally displaced, with over 3 million leaving the country altogether, Ukrainian presidential advisor Mykhailo Podolyak tweeted on March 21.
Over 3 million Ukrainians have been forced to flee to European countries,” Podolyak’s message reads.
“The total number of internally displaced people – those who were forced to leave their cities, their jobs – is 11-12 million; let that sink in.”
Podolyak called the refugee crisis a humanitarian disaster.
On March 14, World Health Organization estimated that 18 million people have been directly impacted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
On March 20, the UN said that 10 million Ukrainians have been forced to abandon their homes due to the war.
