The Russian military launched a series of airstrikes in Luhansk Oblast, targeting the town of Popasna and a hospital in Sievierodonetsk, killing ten and injuring three, regional governor Serhiy Haidai said in a Telegram post on May 17.

According to his message, casualties were reported in Hirske, Zolote, and Borivske.

The strikes hit facilities belonging to a research and engineering, Impulse, in Sievierodonetsk, along with four residential high-rises and a building supplies store. Four buildings were targeted in Rubizhne, two – in Lysychansk.

Two air strikes on settlements around Popasna damaged 16 houses, across five villages.

Nine houses in Hirske and six in Zolote were also damaged by Russian artillery fire.

Russia continues to systematically destroy Luhansk Oblast. Since March, the share of the oblast under Ukraine’s control has shrunk from 30% to 10%.
