Russian attack damages Kyiv power sites, leaves 14,000 homes dark

A Russian missile and drone attack damaged DTEK power
infrastructure in Kyiv and left more than 14,000 households without electricity
in Kyiv Oblast, the company said.
DTEK said a
transformer substation and high-voltage line were damaged in Kyiv. The attack
also damaged a production site, special equipment and 29 vehicles.
Repair crews were working to restore service after the
Russian strike.
DTEK said it had already restored power to more than 2,200
households in Kyiv Oblast who lost electricity because of Russian attacks.
The nighttime attack damaged the company’s power grids,
equipment and vehicles in Kyiv Oblast. More than 14,000 households remained
without electricity.
DTEK said its crews were doing everything possible to
restore power to all homes as quickly as possible.
Earlier, Ukrenergo said power customers in 11 Ukrainian
regions and Kyiv remained without electricity after Russia’s massive attack on
critical infrastructure.
The company said outages affected customers in Poltava,
Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Volyn,
Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv and Kyiv oblasts, as well as in Kyiv.
Russia’s May 14 missile attack on Kyiv and other regions
Russia launched a massive
overnight and morning attack on Kyiv on May 14 with ballistic and cruise
missiles, as well as Shahed drones. Five people were known to have been killed
and more than 40 injured.
An entrance section of an apartment building was destroyed
in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district, with people trapped under the rubble. About 10
people remained missing, Ukraine’s Interior Ministry said.
Seven people were injured in Kyiv Oblast, including a
3-year-old child. Apartment buildings, private homes and businesses were
damaged in six districts.
Russia also struck Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhya, Kremenchuk and
Odesa Oblast.
Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia launched 56 ballistic,
air-launched ballistic and cruise missiles and 675 drones at Ukraine overnight,
with Kyiv the main target. Air defenses downed 652 drones and 41 missiles.
A day earlier, on May 13, Russia launched 753 drones at
Ukraine in another massive attack. The country’s western regions were the main
target.
